More about Jishan
I arrived in the sunny Los Angeles at the end of August of 2005 and started my postdoctoral research in the group of Professor J. Fraser Stoddart. The reason why I chose JFS group probably is that I am drawn to natures' supramolecular phenomenon. I did my PhD work on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) under the supervision of Professor Klaus Müllen in Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research, the most super-rich place I have ever been to. After I received my PhD in the may of 2004, I worked as a group leader leading the graphite subgroup into the synthesis and materials applications of nanosized PAHs. While I enjoyed very much our research at Mainz, I found it was necessary to change my research topic to get more fresh air, so I decided to join the prestigious JFS group. I received my bachelor degree from the Wuhan University in Wuhan, a super-hot place in summer and obtained my masters degree from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Changchun, a super-cold city in winter.
I am missing the time in Mainz where I can play soccer every week with a lot of colleagues. That is the important time for us to relax and make fun. In LA, I enjoyed the time when I do shopping and eating in the China town. I like doing research and wish someday I can become a famous professor like JFS and KM.
