Cari Pentecost
BS University of California Los Angeles
I was born, raised and will likely forever remain in Los Angeles, California. As an undergraduate at UCLA, I was in Fred Hawthorne’s research group working on metal-capped para--carboranes and their applications as molecular wires. My summer and winter breaks were spent at the Rocket Propulsion Laboratories at China Lake Naval Weapons Base. I focused on rocket fuel formulations and worked with engineers to develop characterization techniques for the new fuels before they were accepted for rocket engine test firings.
Outside of the lab, I am known to get a “cheap” thrill out of being cheap (or resourceful, as I prefer to call it). I routinely beat the marketing systems (legally, of course) by getting completely free groceries and free restaurant meals.
