Steve Joiner
BS University of California Los Angeles
Steve is originally from Cupertino, CA, right in the heart of Silicon Valley. After graduating from Lynbrook High School, Steve was transplanted to LA LA Land where he attended UCLA. Steve graduated from UCLA in 2002 as a chemistry major with a minor in mathematics and was awarded the Geissman Award for excellence in organic chemistry. As a huge Bruin fan, Steve felt it would be treasonous to leave UCLA, so he stuck around and is now a graduate student working for Fraser Stoddart (just in case you haven’t figured out what this website is about yet). He is a fellow in the IGERT Materials Creation Training Program, and was awarded the first year departmental award for research and academics. When Steve isn’t busy working on chemistry, he can be found sleeping through a variety of former hobbies that he can no longer find the time for, such as sporting events, theatrical productions, and grocery shopping.
